World Environment Day: Environmentalist Calls For Collective Efforts To Conserve Environment

An environment enthusiast, Chief Chukwuka Okonkwo, has called for all hands to be on deck in building a green and sustainable environment.
Chief Okonkwo made the call while speaking to the ABS in Awka in commemoration of the 2024 World Environment Day.
World Environment Day is celebrated on the fifth June every year, and it encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
It is also supported by many non-governmental organizations, businesses and government entities, and represents the primary United Nations’ outreach day supporting the environment
According to Chief Okonkwo, an architect, government at all levels, as well as citizens should do everything possible to protect the environment, which he said is critical to the survival of mankind.
The environment enthusiast who is an All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, stakeholder in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in building a liveable and prosperous Anambra.
He maintained that Anambra; under Governor Soludo, has witnessed tremendous achievements in the environment sector through erosion control, planting of trees and effective evacuation of waste in all parts of the state, among others.
Chief Okonkwo commended the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, and other relevant key agencies for doing a wonderful work in the environment sector.
