US Jails France-Based Nigerian 41 Months for $8m Disaster Fraud

A US court has sentenced France-based Nigerian Newton Ofioritse Jemide to 41 months in prison for an $8 million disaster relief fraud. Jemide, 47, was extradited from France and pleaded guilty to using stolen identities to obtain federal aid via Green Dot debit cards. He was also ordered to pay over $520,000 in restitution and forfeit $311,000.
