Unizik Granting Services Beyond The Institution – Esimone

The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University,  Awka Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone has expressed pride that the services of staff of the university are now sought after within Anambra State and beyond.

In his address at the 18th Convocation ceremony of the university, Esimone said staff of the university have been poached to serve in top positions in the government of Anambra State and universities throughout the country.

The Convocation ceremony which is for the 2022/2023 academic year issued certificates of first and Higher degrees to 7,829 persons.

Esimone said that he has pushed the university to the frontier of academic excellence by it climbing up in the ranking of universities in the world and Nigeria.

He said that in the ranking for universities not more than 50 years of establishment Unizik is placed 501in global ranking and 5th in Nigeria; is ranked 31 in Sub-saharan and 4th in Nigeria. 

In world ranking it rose from 1501+ in the world and 8th in Nigeria, upfront 10th in 2023.

Because of its advancement Unizik has attracted the Higher Education partnership in Sub-saharan Africa 2022/24 Grant of one Hundred British Pounds and other many other assistance it has attracted.
In the area of infrastructure, Esimone said he attracted an estimated N60billion during his tenure.
Tge Convocation ceremony was attended by a lot of who is who in the country front all walks of life.
They include Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo who was represented by his wife Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor of Anambra State Onyekachukwu Ibezim,  Senator Victor Umeh, His Excellency Rabiu Kwakwanso, AlhajiMonye Soludo, Babagana Kingibe, Deputy  Speaker of House of Representatives Kalu, Deputy governors of Abia, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa among several others.
In his address, the Chancellor of the university and the chairman Plateau Council of Chiefs Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Gbong Gwom Jos praised Esimone on his achievements and urged the staff of the university to cooperate with his successor
