Two Female Students from Lokoja Varsity and Kogi Poly Killed in Fatal Accident

Tragedy struck in Lokoja on Friday morning when two female students from the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and Kogi State Polytechnic were killed in a horrific road accident along the Felele axis of the state capital. The accident occurred when a heavily loaded articulated vehicle, en route to Abuja, lost control and collided with a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) carrying passengers heading toward the town. Two of the passengers, both students, died at the scene, while the other two sustained serious injuries. One of the victims was identified as Covenant Omolola Isaac, a Geology student at FUL, through an ID card found at the site. The second victim, Taiwo Abimbola, was a Higher National Diploma student in Science Laboratory Technology at Kogi State Polytechnic, confirmed by her colleagues. The injured survivors were quickly taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja by officers from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). In a condolence message, the National Association of Science Laboratory Technology (Kogi State Polytechnic chapter) mourned the loss of Taiwo Abimbola, describing her as a dedicated and inspiring member. The association also announced plans to organize a tribute and memorial service to honor her life. This tragic incident has deeply saddened both academic institutions and the Lokoja community, as they mourn the loss of two promising young students.
