Think Home Philosophy: Igbo Diasporan Doctors Established Hospital In Anambra

Twelve Nigerians, who are United States of America based Specialist doctors on 19th April, established an international standard hospital, Pinnacle Consultant Hospital and Clinics Limited at Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Speaking at the groundbreaking of the hospital in Ojoto, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo stated that it is a welcome development, pledged the state government’s unalloyed support to the hospital

The governor who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, reiterated that the state government was aware of the move to establish the hospital in Ojoto citing when it had land allocation issue.

He expressed optimism that the target which is better health to our people and to discourage going to overseas for treatment, urged the people to support the siting of the hospital in Anambra State.

He commended the 12 specialist doctors who are all Igbos for bringing down such gigantic hospital to Ojoto in Anambra State for the betterment of all Eastern states, disclosed that Ojoto, Anambra state is chosen as a location because it is at the center while coming from Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi and Abia states.

Earlier in his speech, the President of the medical team, Prof Fidelis Ndubueze Okonkwo, from Nnewi, said “Good health is man’s most precious possession in the physical world regardless of creed or nationality.

“Access to quality and affordable healthcare iis often a monopoly of the rich and famous. It is sad that most people ignore the truth that no man will be healthy until the whole world which has become a global village is healthy.

“The mission and vision of creation of United Specialist Doctors Hospital and Clinics , the parent company of Pinnacle. Consultant Hospital and Clinics , had been in the making for over 35 years.

“The horrible state of our health care system has affected everybody, regardless of your social status. We have had an unchecked system with total absence of accountability.

“We are a team of highly trained specialists and consultants who are currently practising medicine at the highest levels in the diaspora. We are working hard to put together a team of health care providers and a tertiary hospital that will deliver world class quality and innovative health care,” he stated.

The traditional Ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu 111, while stated that his joy is the siting of the project at Ojoto described it as a welcome development that would assist his subjects a lot when it comes to healthcare delivery.

“It is called all in one hospital, my joy goes to Governor Chukwuma Soludo as the hospital is brought to Anambra State. We will support the Pinnacle hospital. The hospital will be affordable compared with travelling overseas for medical treatment.

The monarch however lamented the embarrassment from some revenue agents that normally storm the hospital for levies and urged Governor Soludo to come to the rescue as such levies are discouragement to the new hospital.

He commended the governor for his numerous achievements in the state adding that he has changed the face of the state for the better.and urged him not to relent.

Earlier, the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, commended the hospital management team for bringing such International hospital to Ojoto adding that the issue of going to abroad for medical treatment will soon be a thing of the past.

Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, Executive Director, Corporate Services, Southeast Development Commission, expressed satisfaction with the siting of the hospital in his Ojoto community and assured of support to the medical team.

According to him with the establishment of the hospital the issue of going abroad for medical attention will in no distant time become a thing of the past.
