The only way to succeed and make yourself and parents proud in this university is self determination and hard work says Prof Eugene Nwadialor, the Vice Chancellor, Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra state.

The VC handed the advice yesterday to the matriculating students of the institution during the 18th matriculation ceremony of the University held at the Convocation arena .
He equally adviced the fresh students to desist from associating or belonging to any Illegal group including cults and other deviant groups, warning that any student identified with such illegal associations or groups will automatically be expelled.
According to him, “most of the staff are doing their best to justify the faith of your parents in our University, but the bulk of the work of molding you to become the best lies on you. You are the reasons we have all gathered here to kick start your academic journey.

“You have finally been admitted into the University. You are now formally an undergraduate and students of Tansian University. You have to look back to know where you are coming from and where you are going to.
“This University has produced respected men andv women in and beyond the shores of this country; you too can be one of them and be a good ambassador of this university in the future. As I congratulate you, I urge you to brace up for the challenges ahead.
“Let me remind you of the following core rules in our university.
“The requirement that students must satisfy 75% lectures attendance to qualify to write examinations in the
University is compulsory. This is also a mandatory requirement from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“Every faculty and department in the University has its dress code. The school’s management insists that appropriate dress code for all students must be applied at every point in time. That allows for easy identification
and smartness on the part of the students.
.
“I have no doubt that you will take Nigeria and the world at large to the next level of development by the quality of education and knowledge acquired from Tansian University.

Prof. Nwadialor equally thanked the Parents for trusting their children to the university management for both academic and character formation but reminded them of their own roles in the development of the children.

“The family is where the education of any child
begins be it formal or informal; hence the importance of the involvement of parents in the education of their children cannot be overemphasized. The collaborative
responsibility of the staff and the parents is highly
recommended and encouraged.
“The parents should not for
any reason hold back but rather speak up at any time of incongruity. You should not hide your children’s error or bad behavior thinking you are doing them any good because the demons we breed today will consume us tomorrow. The parents should therefore report any issue
of concern about their children to the school authorities and vice versa.
“This sharing of information and
collaborative responsibility will definitely keep the
children on their toes and get them into being the best they can be for themselves and their families.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof.Cater Umeoduagu also , advised the new students to take their studies seriously and utilize the effort their parents made to bring them here because they want the best for them.
Some of the matriculating students Ugochukwu Onyeali of Computer Science and Anyaele Precious of Nursing department in there separate speeches showed happiness for securing admission into the university promising to keep on the rules and regulation of the institution in order to make their parents and the institution proud.
