Plateau Attack Death Toll Rises to 52 as Search Efforts Continue

The death toll from recent gunmen attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State has climbed to 52, following the recovery of more bodies.
Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed the updated figure on Friday, revealing that 40 additional corpses were found between Wednesday and Thursday night.
Among the casualties, 31 were given a mass burial, including five children reportedly burnt in Hurti village. Eleven others were killed in Ruwi, four in Manguna, and one in Dafo.
The attacks occurred on April 2nd in Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai communities, where gunmen opened fire on residents.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Government has condemned the violence and confirmed arrests in connection with the attacks. Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, said security forces are working to restore peace and have intensified operations in the affected areas.
She urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and avoid taking the law into their hands, assuring that Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration is committed to justice and the protection of all citizens.
