Over 1,700 Killed in Boundary, Communal Clashes in Seven Years

At least 1,796 people have died in boundary and communal conflicts across Nigeria from 2018 to 2025, according to media reports and the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta.
The violence, driven by unresolved land disputes and weak enforcement of the Land Use Act, is most severe in the South and North Central regions. Experts blame poor boundary delineation and ineffective governance for the rising death toll.
