Onitsha Trade Union Dedicates Hall, Doles Awards To Members, Friends

It was indeed a celebration galore at Bridge-Head Market when the ultra-modern hall complex built by the traders of Progressive Science and Allied Market Association Bridge-Head Market International Onitsha was dedicated and commissioned.

Speaking shortly after commissioning the hall, the special guest of honour and President General of Bridge-Head Market Onitsha, Chief Sunday Obinze, stated that he was impressed with the befitting hall built by the Market Association executives, describing it as a capital project for their Union and source of revenue for them.

Chief Obinze further noted that the present Market Association  executive have established indelible achievements, attributing such tremendous strides to the leadership quality of the their Chairman, Nze Noel Nwosu.

He, however, advised the Association  to remain united in order to resist external aggression that might occur. He so advised them to be law abiding traders, even as he urged them to be vigilant  in their next election in order to elect credible person that could lead them well irrespective of the person’s origin.

Delivering his address of welcome, the Chairman of the Market Association, Nze Noel Nwosu disclosed that one of the fundamental benefits of effective leadership is dividend and security of lives and properties. He revealed that it was a big hurdle for them to build the edifice based on the financial strength of the their Association and lauded Chief Sunday Obinze who he said inspired him to build the hall.

Responding to interview, Nze Nwosu explained that the aim of building the hall was specifically to secure a place where they would gather for meetings and where he could stay and deliver message to his members.

He also said that the hall is equally available for individuals, cooperate bodies and trade union organisations who might wish to organize events and ceremonies, stating that it took them about #10,000,000 to complete the hall.

Nwawelugo, as he is fondly called, extended his appreciation to Chief Sunday Obinze, who he described as a real leader and his mentor that encouraged him to embark on building the trader’s hall.

High point of the events was presentation of award of excellence to Chief Sunday Obinze and Chief Stephen Okolie, while Nze Noel Nwosu and Mr. Chigozie Uwaebuka received merit awards. 

Others who received various awards includes Nze Declan Nwonu, Mr. Calistus Eboh, Mr. Uche Orji, Chief Bonaventure Ucheagwu, Mr. Patrick Mbaonu, Mr. Casmir Anokwute, Mr. Cyprain Umeh amongst other.
