Onitsha Country Club lifts Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament trophy

The Onitsha Country Club on 7th July won the 23rd edition of Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament, (FPCT), hosted by Elite Sports Club, Onitsha, Anambra state.

The Onitsha Country Club having maintained the champion of the Fada Pita Tennis for over 4 years fought Rojenny Lawn Tennis, Oba Idemili South Local Government, who was the runner up in the exercise.

Beverly Hills Recreation Club Nnewi, emerged the 3rd position while Elite Sports Club Onitsha won the best behaved club.

Reacting to the victory, Chief Anietonwa Kingsley Ajulufo, the President, Onitsha Country Club, disclosed that the club has played Fada Pita Lawn Tennis Tournament for over ten years and that the club has continuously presented gift items to the less privileged through Fada Pita’s Charity Tennis Tournament for over ten years now.

According to him “We did our presentation the way we do it. We make sure that every year we added more to what we gave previous year and that was what we did today.

“It is a duty for us to ensure we take care of the less privileged among us and this is what Fada Pita is doing with tennis and that is why every year the club has decided to make sure we bring what we have to support Fada Pita Charity and Onitsha country club is four times champion of Fada Pita Lawn Tennis tournament. We won it in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

“Ever since this club joined Fada Pita Tennis Tournament, this is the toughest tournament because of all the things that happened, but in all, we give thanks to God, because it is only God that said that it is only Onitsha Country club that will be the champion today.

“We are the champion because at a time, we even felt like taking the leave , but something in us told us to continue, to be resilient.that is why we regain the trophy.

On his advice to the management, he said, “I learnt that there was a change in leadership, somebody is incharge for the last 10 years and another person is incharge now, they will make sure by next year, they keep to the constitution.

“They must keep to the bye law of the tournament to ensure that there is no club that will feel cheated all through the league,” he stated.

Reacting, Chief sir George Okezie Adinnu, the new President Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament, lauded Fada Pita, adding that he has been doing much in the life of the less privileged disclosing that during the competition four charity homes, Red cross Ozubulu, Ajayi crowther Motherless babies Onitsha, DCC Nnewi Deaf and Dumb, leprosy Center Okija and Amichi were all presented with gift items.

“We put food on their tables, what we are doing here is unity, keeping fit and helping the less privileged.

“As new president of Fada Pita Charity organization I make the President of country club Onitsha, Ajulufo, my vice because he is my person. He has the same ideology with myself, not only that I forgot to commend my predecessor, the person who handed me over today, Okachamma, he is doing marvelously well.

“He is a man of God and stands with equity fairness and justice. Here, some are doing it as a do or die affair but for us the leaders, we take it as charity organisation”, he disclosed.

Expressing satisfaction with the tournament, the founder, Rev Fr. Peter Muojekwu, (a.k.a Fada Pita), disclosed that Fada Pita Charity group is one entity with three arms that include, Fada Pita Charity Initiative Nigeria, which is the mother and oldest branch and two other sisters in United States.

The duo include, Fada Pita Charity Organization and Father Pita Sports Foundation adding that the two at overseas work hand in hand to champion the course of the physically challenged, abandoned kids and disabled while the Sports body is means of bringing people together through sporting activities to assist the down trodden.
