Onicha LG students to profit from council’s Bursary Award

Prof. Anthony Okorie, Chairman of the 11-man Bursary Committee for the awards, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abakaliki that the screening started on Nov. 14.
Okorie said that the screening witnessed a huge turnout of students from different institutions across the country with 500 already screened.
He said that the beneficiaries must be bonifide students of an institution.
”He/she must have the LGA identification and must have measured up in an academic performance with at least a CGPA of 2.5.
”There should be evidence of school fees payment to the school and passports.
”There’s a specific amount of money for each student but the chairman of the council, Mr Chidiebere Uzor, will announce the figure, which may not be less than N25,000.
”As many students that are able to meet the criteria, will benefit from the council chairman’s bursary awards aimed at assisting the students in tertiary institutions in the state,” he said.
Okorie described education as a life-wire of every society as it concerns human existence.
According to him, education encourages one to be socially fit in all aspects of life.
”No education, no development; education is needed for a society’s development. Countries are developed through education,” he said.
