One killed at Uniport host community cult shootout

A man in his 20s identified as Austin has been killed in a shootout between rival cult gangs in Choba town.

Choba is one of the communities housing the University of Port Harcourt.
The residents of the town were denied their peaceful rest last night following sporadic shootout by the cult groups. The shootout lasted for hours before eventually dying down later at midnight.
Local sources told Odogwublog.com that the shooting started around 7:30 pm at Wordu Street in Owipa community of the town before escalating and stopped around 9pm.
It was gathered that the shootout forced residents to scamper for safety while shop owners were forced to close for business.
Mr Austin was found lifeless on Thursday morning with bullet wounds on his body.
Cult-related rivalry escalated in the community in March between Icelanders and Debam boys following the release from detention, one of the cult leaders in the community.
Security operatives were seen patrolling the communities since after the incident.
