The National Union of Anambra State Students Association (NUASS) has held its first meeting on Friday at Garuba Square, UNIZIK, urging for increased student participation and physical and online engagement.
The meeting, which was graced with the presence of Comrade Felix Nwachukwu, the Association’s National President, featured a call to action aimed at fostering greater engagement among members across various campuses and local government areas.
In his opening address, the National President criticized and expressed disappointment at the Ihiala Students Association leaders for not working with the NUASS activities. He emphasized the need for all local chapters to align with the mother body, stressing that unity and communication are essential for the growth and strength of the association.
Furthermore, the highlights included a discussion on the Anambra Bursary Scheme, an initiative introduced to support students financially. The President noted that before his tenure, the association had faced neglect from the state government. The bursary, he explained, is a step toward restoring dignity and opportunity for Anambra students through official recognition and support.
The meeting also spotlighted the upcoming Anambra State Talent Hunt Show, which features competitive categories and prizes for students showcasing talents in music, drama, and spoken word. Members were encouraged to not only attend meetings but also stand with fellow Anambra students contesting for leadership positions across various campuses.

In an interview with Comrade Emmanuel Akachukwu, he stated, “There’s no factor that can hinder these initiative from working out.”The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from present members to attend meetings regularly and bridge the gap between the state body and local chapters.
Plans for upcoming programs and strategies to enhance communication and student involvement were also briefly discussed, signaling an active and purposeful year ahead for the association. Also, the UNIZIK President of NUASS expressed gratitude to everyone who was present for the first meeting of his administration.
