The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered five illegal crude oil dumps in the Jahi/Katampe area of Abuja and arrested seven suspects involved in the illicit operation.

In a statement on Thursday, NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale revealed that the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad also recovered several vehicles, including a white truck carrying 45,000 litres of suspected stolen Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and four Mercedes-Benz peddler trucks.

Other items seized include pumping machines, hoses, a Mikano generator, and about 23 surface metallic tanks—some containing large volumes of suspected AGO.

The NSCDC said the operation reflects its commitment to tackling crude oil theft nationwide. The arrested suspects will be prosecuted to deter others, the corps added.
