Nonye Soludo Visits Nkwo Nnewi Market, Educates Traders On Health Danger Of Storing Food With Chemicals.

The wife of the governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has asked traders to quit storing food products with poisonous chemicals because of the damaging implications on human health.
The governor’s wife stated this while addressing traders at Nkwo Nnewi Market, where she continued her ongoing Healthy Living Market Outreach.
Speaking on the health risks of storing foods with chemicals substances, Mrs Soludo pointed out that while people who practice such methods may not be fully aware of the dangers, diseases caused by the act could be life-threatening.
She noted that so many slow-killing sicknesses could be traced to unhealthy consumption lifestyle, some of which come from foods grown or stored with harmful chemicals.
Mrs. Soludo also educated the market people on the rules of personal and environmental hygiene and urged them to take common hygiene practices like hand-washing and cleaning of their surroundings, seriously.
She also encouraged them to look out for one another, live as one community, and combine efforts to tackle certain social vices like drug use and cultism among children and youths.
On his part, the Member representing Nnewi North in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Augustine Ike, said that the impact of Mrs. Soludo’s healthy living crusade is being felt across the state and has corrected so many habits that stood in the way of people and their good health.
In his remarks, the President General of Anambra State Almagamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Chief Humphery Anuna, said that with what Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife have achieved over the last two years, there is a new air of confidence in governance because something unprecedented is happening in Anambra State.
Earlier, the Vhairman of Agbaedo Market, F-Line, and the secretary, Lady Nancy Ifebi, said that the market will adopt the healthy living message and make it an everyday practice for all the traders, as well as those who are visiting the market.
They commended the governor’s wife for taking out time to bring her crusade to Nkwo Nnewi and for devoting her time to the welfare of humanity.
As with the tradition of such visits, Mrs Soludo donated hand washing buckets, refuse bags, aprons, and disinfectants to help build hygiene in the market.
Also at the event were the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, that of Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, that of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, the immediate-past Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North, Engineer Chris Obiorah, the convener of Women in Governance for Greater Anambra (WIGA), Mrs Amaka Obi, among others.
