NOA ADVOCATES MORAL VALUES, ATTITUDINAL CHANGE BY NIGERIANS

The State Director National Orientation Agency ( NOA) ,Awka,Mr.Edozie Ajaegbu,has tasked Nigerians on acquisition of moral values and attitudinal change for holistic development of the Country.
The State Director,who was speaking when he led some management staff of the Agency on familiarization tour to the Chairman Transition Committee for Njikoka Local Government Area,Abagana,decried the exponential increase on drug abuse by the youths,cultism , obnoxious treatment of the widows and examination malpractice in the Country.
Mr.Ajaegbu, who stated that the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers of the Agency in the Local Government Areas across the State were waging the war against cultism, examination malpractice and drug abuse by embarking on aggressive Schools re-orintation programmes in the State with a view to catching the Students young,noted that he he deemed the visit feat in order to identify himself with the Leadership and activities of the Council Area.
The Director,who assured the Chairman that NOA is ready to key into the developmental policies, activities and Programmes of the Local Government Area, especially in the areas of Mobilization, Sensitization and Orientation of the people to key into the human oriented Programmes of the Council Area, maintained that the issue of trying to change the people’s psychology is cost intensive and appealed to the Chairman to always assist the NOA officials in the Local Government Area by sponsoring their programmes.
Receiving the NOA Director and his team in his office, the Chairman Transition Committee for Njikoka Local Government Area, Barrister Clement Aguiyi,commended the Director’s approach of doing things and urged Nigerians to always pray for their Leaders and shun cursing them at all times ,reminding them that the Leaders are human beings like themselves.
The Chairman,who noted that it is not easy to hold public office , especially in the area of changing the people’s mindsets, stressed that the core values of the Country have changed over time.
While acknowledging the fact that orientation Programmes were cost intensive,the Chairman challenged Nigerians to use their time and energy to educate the people on the importance of core values in the Country, especially at the grassroots.
The Chairman,who emphasized that the consumption of illicit drugs are very high in the society today,stated that it was not like that before,adding that he was afraid of the Nigerian youths whom he said have placed more value on get money quick syndrome and the abysmal quest to travel abroad without requisite skills,rather they resort to organ harvests to making money.
He observed that the Nigerian parents and the nation’s educational system have failed the Society and advised the parents and the teachers as well as the Church heads to work towards stilling the spirit of core values on the children,pointing out that nation’s core values were fast eroding the society.
Earlier,the Deputy Director Special Duties and the Local Government Coordinator,NOA,Awka, Barrister Ifeoma Chijioke, advocated for viable synergy between the Local Government and NOA in the total fight against obnoxious maltreatment of the widows and drug abuse and affairmed that the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers of the Agency in the twenty- one Local Government Areas in the State have taking the war against the maladies to all Schools in the State in order to dissuade the children from engaging unwholesome activities that would mar their future.
