Nigerian films board to hold smoke-free seminar at Nike hotels, Enugu

The Nigerian Films and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), in collaboration with Corporate Accountability & Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has concluded plans to hold a one-day National Stakeholders Engagement seminar on #SmokefreeNollywood initiative in Enugu.
The event hold on Tuesday,May 21, at the Nike Lake Hotels, Enugu.
According to the organisers, the conference aims to unite a diverse group of stakeholders, including filmmakers, producers, scriptwriters, and directors, to address and discuss the critical issue of smoking depiction in Nollywood films.
The primary objective of the engagement is to provide in-depth information on the health risks and societal impacts of smoking, backed by research and expert opinions.
It is also billed to encourage collaboration among filmmakers to develop creative content that discourages smoking and promotes positive health messages.
The engagement is equally meant to work towards establishing industry guidelines and best practices for the depiction of smoking in film and to advocate for policy changes and the implementation of stricter regulations regarding smoking in movies by the NFVCB.
