Nigerian-Australian Woman Arrested in Australia for Trafficking 15 Students

Binta Abubakar, a Nigerian-Australian, has been arrested by Australian Federal Police for allegedly trafficking 15 Papua New Guinean students and forcing them into unpaid farm labour under fake scholarship promises.
The 56-year-old was arrested at Brisbane Airport following a two-year investigation. Authorities say she lured victims through her company, BIN Educational Services, then withheld wages and used threats to maintain control.
Abubakar faces 31 charges, including trafficking and debt bondage. She was granted bail and will reappear in court on September 19.
