Nigeria and France have reinforced their partnership in the mining sector, committing to significant upgrades of Nigeria’s geological infrastructure. This includes the enhancement of geological laboratories, provision of advanced technology, and funding for geological data exploration through the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA). During a meeting at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, both nations discussed policy alignment, expertise sharing, and investments in Nigeria’s mining industry. France also pledged to send a list of credible investors interested in Nigeria’s mining sector. The collaboration focuses on sustainable mining, artisanal mining, geological exploration, and cadastral management, with an emphasis on training and technology transfer. Key commitments include upgrading Nigeria’s laboratories to international standards, building capacity for African geologists, and co-funding early-stage exploration projects. The collaboration aims to foster long-term growth in Nigeria’s mining industry and support the diversification of critical minerals.
