Chief Clifford Iloegbune Okoye one time Chairman NBA Aguata of Anambra state branch of NBA has described the Ongoing national protest by youths in the Country against hunger is APT and necessary considering the extreme harsh living conditions in every part of Nigeria but quickly added that to turn the opportunity to perpetuate violence is very bad and condemnable.
Stating this while speaking to newsmen on the protest in his office in Onitsha the Commercial City of Anambra State Yesterday, Okoye averred that the protest is long overdue considering harsh conditions been witnessed on daily basis by Most Nigerian’s adding that if situations become absurd changes become inevitable.
While noting that the present situation as been witnessed in the present Nigeria called for a radical change, He recalled that during the military junta in the country that it was protest of this nature led by human right activists, social crusaders which included the present president of Nigeria Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu that brought the Military to its knees notwithstanding their guns as they were forced to conduct election to handover to Civilian rule.
Said the Ex-MBA chairman, “it is unfortunate that the protest has been hijacked which to me I will not exonerate the hands of a fifth columnist, Nigeria needs these type of protest, Nigerians as a nation need to make noise, we need to protest against insecurity, corruption, Nepotism, tribalism, non working of refineries, election rigging, ethnicism, promotion of sectional interest, lack of employment, good health care, etc it is very unfortunate that the protest is being hijacked midway, we need to protect against impunity, and injustice, infact to me the protest should continue until the right things are done, if Nigerians can protest when we were face with military decree what stops us now. So the protest should go on until food is made available to the poor man table in this country.
