Kano Targets 3.9 Million Children in Polio Vaccination Drive

The Kano State Government has launched a polio vaccination campaign aiming to reach 3.9 million children under five across all 44 LGAs.

The campaign, supported by UNICEF, begins with site-based vaccinations in 11 LGAs before transitioning to a house-to-house drive from June 14–18.

Officials raised alarm over recent detection of polio variants in several areas, warning that immunization gaps could reverse past gains.

UNICEF urged government support and media advocacy to combat misinformation and boost vaccine uptake.
