Journalism is a noble profession, do not bastardise

The Chairman Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Prince Chinedu Okafor has called on journalism as a professional body that should be safe guarded from the intrusion of all and sundry.

He made this call in his office during a courtesy visit by Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra state Chapter ably led by the Chairperson Comrade Tochukwu lfejika.

He noted that the activities of every Tom, Dick and Harry with unverified news item on Social Media platforms
would jeopardize the profession.

Earlier in her address, the Chairperson of NAWOJ highlighted some of the LGA activities such as monitoring of all the public health centers (PHCs) in the area and upgrading the ones in need of modern facilities for the citizenry to access quality healthcare.

Further in her speech, Comrade Ifejika advocated that the council should partner the association in informing and educating the people of Awka South Local Government Area on the activities of the present administration.

In his response, Okafor declared that the council would partner with NAWOJ alongside with his Media team for greater impact.

“The partnership will ensure a robust dissemination of the good works of His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Soludo. The visit of the president Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu last week was as a result of Mr governor’s good works in the state,” he stated.

He however, admonished the association to be proactive in the dissemination of information so that the world will see that Anambra State has been transformed to become a liveable, and conducive environment.

In a vote of thanks, the General Manager of Kpakpando Fm Monic Okechukwu, thanked the Chairman for the assured support and partnership with NAWOJ in her forthcoming event and also commended him for his conduct and efforts in Awka South LGA.
