Ihiala Students’ Union UNIZIK Chapter, Holds Inauguration And Oath-Taking Ceremony.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Ihiala Students’ Union held its inauguration and oath-taking ceremony on Friday at the peemises of the Faculty of Social Sciences popularly called Centre, marking the official transition of leadership for the new academic session.The event attracted several dignitaries, including the National President of the Anambra State Students Association (NUASS), the National President of the Ihiala Students Association, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Senate President, the President of the Faculty of Social Sciences Students Association (FOSSA), among other student leaders and well-wishers.

In a solemn and symbolic moment, the newly elected executives took their oath of office, pledging to serve with integrity, transparency, and unity. Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of responsible leadership and active participation in student governance. The ceremony served not only as a formal transition of power but also as a call for collaboration among all students of Ihiala origin in UNIZIK.

In an interview with the newly sworn-in Vice President, Peculiar Chidumebi, she explained her reason for contesting. “The chapter has been in existence for five years now, and the president needed helping hands to work with. I want to see this union grow, so I stepped up to serve,” she said. She also revealed plans for a town hall meeting, where Ihiala students will engage directly with their local government chairman and House of Representatives members to address student concerns and seek support.Ohaevisim Yeshua, a member of the union, described the program as both “helpful and educative,” commending the organizers for hosting such a purposeful event that gave clarity to the union’s vision and mission moving forward.

Also speaking, the President of the Faculty of Social Sciences Students Association (FOSSA) acknowledged the efforts of the Ihiala Students’ Union President, praising his commitment to student development. He thanked everyone for honoring the invitation and encouraged further unity among student bodies.
