Guber Election: Onitsha South Councillor Honours Mayor, Deputy, 18 Others With Awards For Their Good Works

The Councillor representing Fegge ward 3, Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedum Okolo has honoured the Mayor of the Council, Hon Chief Emeka Orji (Nwajiofor nna ya) with his Deputy, Hon Onyebuchi Obi and 18 others who have worked with him both with financial contributions for the development of the party at the grassroot level.

Speaking after the presentation of the awards, Hon.Okolo said ” The event was to thank those who worked, suffered with me during my time as the ward chairman till the end of my successful tenure, and later the ward voted me to go and represent them at the local government level, so i now decided to recognize them today, to thank them for our good work then.

“They were 20 persons, we don’t fail in election periods even if other wards fail, these people contributed immensely especially our Mayor, Hon Chief Emeka Orji, who always try his best , he came whenever he was called upon, fought for us if the need be, plays the roles of a father, we are happy for him.

“Also his Deputy who is not from our ward, he is from Odoakpu but a very good grassroot politician, I follow his footsteps, I also thanked our Governor Charles Soludo, all these things we are doing are for the preparations for the coming gubernatorial election which is on November 8.

Hon.Okolo further advised the awardees to do more than they have done, disclosed that more awards awaits those who would perform more, charged those that he didn’t give the award to put more effort so as to be rewarded for their good work.

In their separate prayer during the breaking of kola nut, Mayor Orji, Chief Augustine Udebue, Chief Boniface Ezeobi, Chief Stanley Okafor prayed that “Our aim of calling these meetings would be achieved and we would win in this coming election, prayed that the party would grow from strength to strength”.

In his speech, Mayor Orji reiterated that the Fegge police station which was erected with the military might thereby blocking Nkrumah street which is a very important road for Bridgehead and main market traders would be pulled down for easy accessibility of the road, he also stated that the road was not like that in the 70s.

He recalled that Governor Charles Soludo has done tremendously for the people of Onitsha South, stated that no LG has benefitted more than Onitsha South, noting that more than 18 roads were already constructed and other developmental strides only in this LG.

The Mayor further disclosed that more things would be erected at Silas works where the fire service would be stationed, he also stated that Uga, Bida, Nkrumah, Orlu and Mbonu roads are in line.

Reacting on the award bestowed on him, Hon Obi charged the people of Fegge 3 to work tirelessly for the coming election no matter what it would cost because the governor has done a lot for them in particular, the general hospital and some of their roads which are to be done soon, saying that to whom much is given, much is expected.

Also the CEO Admin, Oil and Gas, Chief Promise Egbeji in his reaction after receiving his award pledged his undiluted loyalty to the Mayor and the Fegge 3 Councillor, to work with them any time, any day to ensure that Fegge 3 delivered Governor Soludo come Nov 8 gubernatorial election.

He further pledged to construct the culvert at Abagana-Okija-Nkrumah/Nnobi Street soonest which has been a problem whenever he wanted to go out through the streets.

Others awarded were Hon Desmond Umenze, Chief Boniface Ezeorji, Barr Chibuzo Emmanuel, Hon.Echezona Aluka, Udoka Asonye, Donatus Ede, Nonso Uwaekwe, Ogechukwu Aniagor, Ikemefuna Ezenachi, Amara Ifeakor, Ego Mmilimma, Amaka Ezenwinyinya and Friday Onyeagharam.

Reacting to the award given to Barr Chibuzo, the former Chairman APGA Onitsha South LG, Chief Mofus Ezeoba and the Secretary General Onitsha South, Barr Kenechukwu Oguejiofor thanked Hon.Okoro for the award of good work bestowed on Barr Chibuzo Emmanuel.

Ezeoba recalled that the party has two legal advisers during his time as the LG party chairman, Barr Chibuzo and Barr.Sly Ezeokenwa, noted that Barr Chibuzo has worked for the party with dedication, described him as the most peaceful APGA Stakeholder.

In his remarks, the Chairman of a support group, Soludo Solution, Hon.Echezona Aluka thanked Hon.Emeka Orji saying that he is down to earth despite his family background and his dedication to his work, described him as his role model.
