Group hands over classroom blocks, Corpers’ lodges, others to schools in Awgbu

Anambra State Commissioner of Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has commissioned various facilities in three Schools in Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
The beneficiary schools were Community Secondary School, Awgbu, Community High School, Awgbu and Awgbu Grammar School.
The facilities included two ultra modern corper’s lodge bungalows, water borehole, standard toilet facilities and renovated block of 5 classrooms.
The Golden 20 Association, Awgbu built and handed over the facilities to the schools in under Governor’s Soludo Private Public Community Partnership Initiative (PPCP).
Commissioning the facilities, Chuma-Udeh lauded the association for keying into Governor Soludo’s PPCP initiative.
She also praised her for creating enabling environment through infrastructure development that foster education in the area.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the present administration to stamping out era of schools with dilapidated infrastructure in communities.
“It’s good to see that you are mindful of the interest of the younger generation.
“This shows you fully understand that in the next 50 years or thereabout, these ones seated here will be sitting on the seats you are presently occupying.
“Hence, the outcome of their decisions will lie hugely on the knowledge and education they have been exposed to.
“What the association has done is to redefine the tomorrow of the community.
“It’s only a progressive town with progressive souls that will do what the association has done.”
The Commissioner pledged government’s continued collaboration in educational development of the schools and other public schools in the state.
She urged the body to go step further in erecting perimeter fence round the school for enhanced security and as deterrent to land enchroachers.
Stakeholders extol Govt’s education strides
Chairman of the Association, Chief Oliver Ben Okoli, thanked the government for the ongoing transformation in the education sector.
He said his association embarked on the project to foster unity and education in the community.
“The community embarked on the mission to ensure that efforts of our fathers in building the schools is not wasted as a result of dilapidated structure,” he added.
Responding, Principal of the School, Rev Sister Stellamary Nwafor solicited government assistance in the upgrade of the school to smart school.
President General of Awgbu, Engr Christian Okoye said his community was ready to collaborate with the state in building education developmental project in the area.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr Ifeoma Agbaizu, Director of Schools, Mrs Ifeoma Onyebueke and other top education functionaries witnessed the event.
