Governor Otti Apologizes to ABSU Students Over Poor Facilities, Pledges Upgrades

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed shock and disappointment over the poor state of facilities at Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, vowing to address the situation.
During an unscheduled visit on Sunday, Otti apologized to students for the substandard living conditions and announced plans to construct a 5,000-capacity hostel and a functional cafeteria. He also banned the use of cooking stoves, kettles, and kerosene in student rooms due to safety concerns.
“The conditions under which you live are unacceptable for academic work,” Otti stated, urging the university management to renovate existing hostels while the new ones are built. He also directed the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ndukwe Okudo, to set up a cafeteria for students.
The governor further assured students that power, potable water, and other essential amenities would be provided to improve learning conditions. He thanked them for their patience and apologized on behalf of the state government.
