Gender Based Violence and Female Genital Mutilation can not be fought alone

The House of Myles Africa,a movement that advocates for Gender based violence and female genital mutilation took place at the UNIZIK main auditorium at Garuba square.
The conference was hosted by Rueben Myles to enlighten students on the need for advocating for Gender based violence and female genital mutilation.
The conference was graced by students and dignitaries from within and outside the school.
The welcome address was said by Rueben Myles,the CEO of HOM Africa followed by a keynote address themed “overcoming stigma: speaking out on mental health challenges” written by unizik’s acting vc, Prof Carol Arinze-Umeobi which was read by Rev.Dr. Maurice Izunwa on behalf of the acting vc as she couldn’t make it to the conference.
Prof Chinonso Achebe from the department of engineering also delivered a heartwarming speech titled”Silencing the silence, addressing Gender based violence”. There was also a public panel where the GBV was properly analysed by some personnels like Barr. Nnenna Okafor from public law department, Madonna university, Okija,Dr Nonso Stanley from the University of Niger teaching hospital,Iyienu and Amb. Anyaoha Ujunwa,a personal development coach. They laid emphasis on the dangers of female genital mutilation,how to shape the society towards advocating against gender based violence.
