FG Worries Over US Decision To Revise Visa Reciprocity Policy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed concern over the recent decision by the United States to revise its visa reciprocity policy, now limiting non-immigrant visas for Nigerian citizens to just three months with single entry.
In a statement signed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the government noted that the new U.S visa rule affects business and tourism, students and exchange visitors categories, adding that the decision could have far-reaching implications for travelers, students, professionals and families with ties to the United States.
While acknowledging America’s sovereign right to set its immigration policies, Nigeria described the measure as “misaligned with the principles of reciprocity, equity and mutual respect” that should define relations between both nations.
