Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has expressed pride in her performance at the 2024 Olympic Games in France, despite facing challenges both on and off the track. In a series of tweets, Ofili reflected on the strength she discovered during the competition, even as she missed out on a 100m race due to administrative errors by Nigerian athletics officials.

“It’s easy to feel defeated, but every setback is a setup for a comeback,” she wrote. “This Olympics made me realize how strong I am, and I’m grateful for the support from my coach, family, and fans. Trusting God’s plan is the only way to heal.

Ofili, who finished sixth in the 200m final, was omitted from the 100m race after officials failed to enter her name. The omission sparked public outcry after she voiced her frustration on social media, saying, “I have worked for 4 years to earn this opportunity. For what?”

Despite the setbacks, Ofili advanced to the 200m final after strong performances in the heats and quarterfinals. However, she narrowly missed out on a medal in a tight race, leaving her emotional after the event. In a viral video, she was seen tearfully expressing exhaustion, saying, “I’m tired,” as she sought comfort from journalists.

Despite the challenges, Ofili remains determined to continue her journey in athletics, viewing this experience as just another step in her story.
