Speculations are ripe that some Enugu state legislators are planning to decamp to PDP, which is the ruling party in the state.

The rumour to that effect is heightening tension within the party with some stakeholders threatening to recall their Lawmaker, at any point he or she decamps from the Labour Party.

Reacting to the allegation in a telephone chat, the legislator representing Igbo Eze South in the Enugu State House of Assembly, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, Hon. Harrison Ogara, said the rumour-making round is a hard say since none of his colleagues elected on the platform of LP has cross carpeted to PDP during their sittings up till the time of granting this interview.

The deputy governorship candidate of the party in Enugu state, Dr John Nwokeabia in a press statement issued in Enugu, advised the party faithful to maintain their peace, stating that the issue of cross-carpeting is a common character among Nigerian politicians not minding the implications. Dr Nwojeabia stated,”Be that as it may and importantly too, I am not aware as of today that any of our House of Assembly members has officially tendered his resignation /deflection letter to the party.
“Consequently, unless and when that is done, We can only speculate as to their intention. Suffice it to say that in that event, the actions of the party will be swift and decisive in tandem with extant laws of the land”.
