Ekiti Court Sentences Five to Death for Armed Robbery, Murder

An Ado-Ekiti High Court on Tuesday sentenced five men to death by hanging for armed robbery and murder committed in 2021.

Justice O.O. Olatawura found Ojo Tope, Danilola Christopher, Joshua Adegoke, Aderopo Temitope, and Oyedele Oluwatobi guilty of robbing three residents of valuables including cash, laptops, and phones, and killing a night guard, Joseph Blessing, during the attack on Agogo Street, Ado-Ekiti.

The court held that the prosecution, led by Director of Public Prosecutions Julius Ajibare, proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt. In addition to the death sentences for robbery and murder, the convicts were each handed 21 years’ imprisonment for conspiracy.
