Easter: The source of victory and hope of humanity – Bishop Nwokolo

Easter is a very important festival in the life of the church and Christians all over the world.

He emphasises that this is a time we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ who came into the world to deliver us from the hands of darkness and to liberate us so that we will maximise the potential that God has given unto us.

God made it that man would enjoy his freedom in the garden of Eden but because of sin, man lost those opportunities. But that God had a plan for man to recover his lost glory and God did this by sending his son, Jesus Christ into the world — God coming in the form of man to help us overcome our faults And that’s what the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross achieved for us. And that is Easter — Easter is victory for man, victory for the world, victory for society through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The new life we have in Jesus Christ gives us the power to overcome. Easter grants us the opportunity to have a new life in Jesus — a life free from bitterness and things that are not of the glory of God.

The teachings of our Lord Jesus christ, from the time he called his disciples preaches love and peace with our brothers and sisters; and that is why we rejoice that we have Jesus whose life taught us that the impossible becomes possible.

The bishop’s charge for Christians – Our charge for everyone is to reappraise what our Lord Jesus has taught us which manifests in his message in the gospel that with him we’re more than conquerors. With him we’re capable of living a new life.

For us to live a new life, we must follow what Apostle Peter tells us in 1Peter 2: 21; that our Lord Jesus has suffered for us so that we will not be made to live in suffering but what we will do is to follow in his steps and it will help us to face tomorrow through patience and humility, and to overcome challenges through faith.

The Bishop reminds Christians that there are still challenges to overcome and that can only happen through emulating the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the new light, in whom we have a new generation.

His prayer is that everyone will overcome by walking in the steps of Jesus Christ.

Refuse Management:

Bishop Owen commends the state govt but calls upon them to do more bout the recent refuse management issues and cleanliness faced in our society today.

The Bishop said that the Issue of refuse management is one that concerns all. And Everyone is expected to ensure that his environment is clean and to dispose his or her refuse properly. However there are aspects that are left for the govt to manage.

The issue of refuse management is a serious one that if not handled properly will cause hazards to the environment and people’s health.

The Bishop commended the New state govt for tackling the issue by commissioning a new project charged with directives for the refuse disposal management.

However the Bishop calls on the new govt to set up a permanent structure for refuse management whether they are to be recycled or dumped.

This is because the issue of waste disposal is a serious matter in our society that must be handled effectively. Therefore the govt should make directives/policies to take on the duty to manage waste disposal efficiently.

The Bishop acknowledges that the new govt has stepped up to discharge their duty but he has also recommended that refuse management is not just a govt duty but also a society need; which the govt needs to tackle with consistent efforts observed on a daily basis.

He encouraged everyone to continue to pay taxes for refuse disposal to ensure that things continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
