CJN Kekere-Ekun Decries Decline in Legal Ethics

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has expressed concern over the declining ethical standards in the legal profession. Speaking at the public presentation of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee report in Abuja, she called for renewed commitment to ethics, discipline, and professional responsibility.
She emphasized the Body of Benchers’ crucial role in upholding legal integrity and praised its efforts in enforcing discipline through the LPDC. Kekere-Ekun also lauded the inaugural Body of Benchers annual lecture, describing it as a platform for critical discourse on legal ethics and professional standards.
She urged the initiative’s continuation, stressing its importance in shaping the legal profession’s future and strengthening public trust in the judiciary.
