Anambra Govt Confirms Release of Kidnapped Commissioner and Wife

The Anambra State Government has confirmed the release of Hon. Patrick Aghamba, the Commissioner for Youth Development, and his wife, who were kidnapped on Friday.
Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, announced their release, which occurred on Saturday night after the couple spent a day in captivity. Aburime clarified that no ransom was paid for their freedom.
“By the special grace of God, the commissioner and his wife have been released. We successfully secured their release,” Aburime stated.
The commissioner and his wife were abducted by gunmen along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while en route to Abuja for the wedding of Governor Soludo’s daughter, Adaora, which took place on Saturday. They were traveling in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus with other passengers.
Tragically, one of Aghamba’s aides, who was traveling with them, was killed during the kidnapping incident.
