Anambra Central Senatorial district grieves for Sen. Okonkwo

Chief Donatus Anozie, President General (PG) of Ojoto Community in Anambra, says Sen Annie Okonkwo, a former Senator, who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District in the red Chambers from 2007 to 2011, died on Wednesday in a Los Angeles hospital, USA.
Anozie disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Awka.
Anozie said that Ojoto Community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra was not the only people mourning the late Okonkwo, but the entire Anambra Central, and his friends outside the South East.
He said that he had known late Okonkwo, whom he referred to as “the fallen hero” since 1980, and can attest to his bowel of human kindness which cuts across all social strata.
“Annie is a wealthy man who relates with the poor, middle and rich without making the poor feel inferior, his type is rare, we lost a great man,” he said.
Anozie said that Okonkwo’s 63rd birthday was celebrated in May in the community in his absence, adding that his wife, Chinyere, children, in-laws, relatives, friends and political associates will miss him.
He was a worthy son and philanthropist of repute who touched many lives while he lived across Nigeria.
Anozie said that late Okonkwo was last seen in public during the February 25 National elections when he campaigned for his son, Uchenna.
Uchenna is the House of Representatives member for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Anambra.
“We all sympathise with the immediate family and pray for a peaceful repose of his soul.
