Abia First Lady Pledges Legislative Backing to Combat HIV Stigma

The First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has reaffirmed her commitment to fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS. At a meeting with NEPWHAN and Key Population representatives, she announced plans for anti-discrimination legislation and empowerment initiatives, including skill acquisition programs for vulnerable groups. With 46,788 individuals undergoing treatment in the state, stakeholders highlighted the importance of eliminating stigma to achieve zero new infections. The event concluded with food and financial aid for participants, underscoring the government’s dedication to supporting affected individuals.
