Nkpor Biafra Remembrance Day Massacre: Family Declares Son, Jonathan Ikechukwu Umoke Missing 2 Years After

The family of Umoke Linus from Ezza-Agu , Ebonyi state resident in Nkpor-Obosi road, Nkpor Anambra State has declared their son
Umoke Jonathan Ikechukwu missing.
Umoke Jonathan Ikechukwu was last seen as he joined the peaceful protest by Biafrans at Nkpor on May 30th, 2016 to mark that year’s remembrance day of the Biafrans.
Ikechukwu who assisted his parents particularly his mother to sell bread at Nkpor Park was an active member of IPOB and was one of the active fronts mobilizing for the organization in Nkpor axis until his disappearance more than 2 years now.

www.odogwublog.com recalls that on 30th of May, 2016, many flag carrying young boys and girls were slaughtered in their prime at Nkpor during the Biafra remembrance day celebration. The event was to honour Biafra heroes who died during the 1967-1970 Biafra war.
According to Linus Umoke, Ikechukwu’s father he is confused on whether his son was part of those murdered, injured or arrested in the Nkpor massacre and feared for the worst for his son. He is desperate to reconnect with his son.
He lamented his inability to connect with his son for days, weeks and months running into two years and several months after the massacre, even as he believes he was still alive. He said relatives of the people murdered in cold blood were not allowed to see the dead victims. He also said he has visited so many police stations without any information about his son.
It was on this note of no clue about his son’s whereabouts that the family decided to go public for the whole world to know they are looking for their son for over two years without any luck.
He further appealed for help from spirited individuals to assist him reconnect with his son as they are being subjected to emotional and psychological trauma.
According to Amnesty International Nigeria, at least about 60 persons were killed and about 100 others were injured allegedly by Nigerian soldiers and security joint forces.
But, media reports on the incident quoted over 150 were shot directly at, murdered by security agents and over 200 injured with many arrested
The families of the dead and injured are still to be compensated, while several others arrested are still in detention allegedly.
Amnesty International Nigeria is insisting the culprits of the May 30th Massacre by security agents should be brought to book. They insist proper investigation should be carried out to know why the alleged ethnic cleansing was carried out.
After the massacre, Governor Willie Obiano tendered an unreserved apology to IPOB members. He did that when he received in audience members of Biafran War Veterans led by Gen Joe Achuzie at Governor’s Lodge , Amawbia.
Ikechukwu’s family are desirous of knowledge about the whereabouts of their son and are willing to cooperate with authorities on this as it has traumatized the family.
