For some students of Akaboezem Community School, Uruagu, Nnewi, learning became a little easier on Sept. 29, as the Rotary Club of Nnewi Urban provided school bags and essential learning materials to pupils who lacked them.

The intervention came during a visit led by the club’s 10th President, Rotarian Obiora Aghazu, alongside members of the Rotary Club and Rotaract Club of Nnewi. The team visited the school to assess its learning environment, facilities and the challenges affecting students and staff.

Students identified as being in need received school bags, exercise books, rulers, pens and other educational materials donated by the Rotary Club of Nnewi Urban.

Speaking during the visit, Rotarian Aghazu said youth development and education would remain key priorities of his administration, noting that children need an enabling environment and the necessary resources to learn effectively.

He said the club would focus on supporting improvements in school facilities and the wider learning environment, with the aim of helping to create better conditions for quality education.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Rotary and Rotaract teams to engage directly with the school community, identify pressing needs and offer immediate assistance to students who required basic educational materials.
