The World Health Organisation says Nigeria is among countries with the highest hepatitis-related deaths in 2024, contributing significantly to global fatalities.

WHO reported 1.34 million hepatitis deaths worldwide, with Nigeria among top contributors to both hepatitis B and C mortality.

It warned that progress toward elimination is too slow, despite available vaccines and effective treatments.
