The Federal Government has earmarked ₦1.7 trillion in the 2026 Appropriation Bill to settle outstanding debts owed to contractors for capital projects executed in 2024. The provision, listed as “2024 Outstanding Contractor’s Liabilities,” comes amid protests over delayed payments.

An additional ₦100 billion was budgeted for other local contractors’ debts, bringing the total allocation to ₦1.8 trillion within the proposed ₦23.2 trillion capital expenditure for 2026.
