U.S Government To Partner Anambra in Digital Economy
The United States Consulate says it will partner Anambra State, through the state’s Solution Innovation District (SID), in digital economy and innovation.
The Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Lagos, Julie McKay, disclosed this at the Solution Innovation District office in Awka during the Anambra Technology and Innovation Ecosystem engagement, which served as an interactive session between the U.S. delegation and innovators in the state, and an avenue for the innovators to inform the U.S. representatives of areas where they need assistance in the digital and innovation sector.
Addressing the gathering, the leader of the U.S. delegation, McKay, said that their visit to Anambra is part of efforts to find ways to make the U.S. and Nigeria more prosperous in the digital economy, and assured that the United States will partner Anambra in providing both training and support for digital economic development.
The Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, expressed hope that the proposed partnership between Anambra and the United States would deepen the state’s digital economy agenda and accelerate what the state is already doing in the ecosystem, where the Governor aims to make Anambra the creative capital of Nigeria through massive training of youths in digital skills.
The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, and Professor Kingsley Nwaozor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University appreciated the U.S. government for deciding to partner Anambra in building its digital economy, and expressed hope that the partnership will be robust and beneficial.
