Nigeria’s telecom subscribers hit 173.5m, broadband 49.3% — NCC

Nigeria’s active telecom users rose to 173.5 million in September 2025, while broadband penetration reached 49.3%, the NCC said.

MTN led with 90.3 million subscribers, followed by Airtel (58.5m), Globacom (21.4m) and T2 (3.1m).

The government plans to deploy 90,000km of fibre cables under a $500m World Bank-backed project to boost digital access. The telecom sector contributed 9.2% to GDP in Q2 2025.
