Educate women more on their rights, safety and responsibilities – CP Orutugu,

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police Cp. Ikioye Orutugu has eulogized the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra State chapter for their positive impact on the society and its members for their display of professionalism in journalistic reportage.
These he said during a familiarization visit paid to him by the members of the association in his office at Awka, command headquarters.
CP. Orutugu said that he has passion for the welfare women and children, He therefore enjoined NAWOJ to create forums to educate women more on their rights, safety as there are many cases of abuse against women in the state, and also to expose them to their enormous responsibilities as mothers in their respective home to achieve a better society.

On elections matters, he states that elections will come and go, but misinformation in the ears of people will remain in their minds which may lead to crisis in some communities, he therefore urged all to be intentional about news reportage during the November 8, Anambra Governorship polls.
The State PPRO, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga said that the CP’s passion for the welfare of women and children lead to his appointment of female police officers in key positions in the 56 divisions of the state command which has never happened to that magnitude in the state command.
He said that his commitment to crime fighting, diligence and passion for his Job has given him numerous awards of excellence in his service to humanity.
The Anambra State Chairman of NAWOJ, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika praised the CP for his achievements so far especially on security issues since his assumption of office as the Anambra commissioner of Police barely eight months ago.
“You came to Anambra at a time when the state was so hot with a lot of security challenges but you have been able to put the situation under control with your unmatched courage, This has brought about significant changes in the State” She said.
Comrade Ifejika however, appealed to CP for inclusion of the female association in the numerous activities of the command to enable them get first hand information for the purpose of accurate information dissemination and awareness creation to the public.
She further implored the CP for partnership on training of association members in relevant areas of concern which will be open to sponsorship.
Still on the visit, The council of African youths Nigeria ably represented by its two members, Comrade Onyeka Nwosu and Comrade Uchechi Awuzie presented the Commissioner of Police CP. Orutugu with yet another meritorious award on his commitment to curbing kidnapping, Armed Robbery and other crimes.
CP Orutugu received it unbehalf of Anambra State command, stating that it is for the honour of all the officers who work tirelessly to ensure safety in the state and also give good image to the force by their good conduct.
