The Presidency has slammed the IMF for its critical report on Nigeria’s economy, calling it harsh and unhelpful. Presidential aide Tope Fasua said the constant negative assessments could incite public unrest and undermine ongoing reforms.

He defended President Tinubu’s economic policies, including subsidy removal and FX liberalisation, urging patience for their impact. Fasua also criticised the IMF’s conflicting roles as lender and adviser, calling for reliance on local data to assess progress.
