The Anglican Youth Fellowship,AYF of the
Church Of The Holy Spirit Awka led by Brother Chima Nwankwo had during the AYF Sunday surprised worshippers by donating a Signpost for the church worth hundreds of thousands.
The Signpost was the first in several years of the existence of the church after the initial ones disappeared.
Commending the AYF Church of The Holy Spirit Parish Leader , Brother Chima Nwankwo and his team of executives, the Vicar, Ven.Dr Onyeka Egwuonwu praised their dedication and commitment to the service of God at all times.
Ven.Dr. Egwuonwu who is also the Archdeacon CHS Archdeaconry Awka said he has watched the youths uplift each other without prompting and urged them not to relent in that direction.
In his remarks, the AYF CHS Awka Parish Youth Leader, Bro Nwankwo said the youths were worried there was no sign on the road to notify the world about the church’s existence inside the compound hence their decision to provide the Signpost.
He had noted that the theme for the 2025 Youth Week, “Going back to our root – Christian perspective,” calls in youths to reflect on the foundations of our faith and to rediscover the values and principles that have guided us thus far.
He said further: “As we go back to our roots, let us remember the words of Psalm 1:3, which says, “They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.”
“As Christians, we are called to be like trees planted by streams of water, drawing nourishment from God’s word and living out our faith in obedience to His will.
Bro Chima expressed appreciation to Ven. Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu, the Vicar, for his leadership and guidance, Rev’d Augustin Otiji, the Parish Youth Coordinator, for his tireless efforts in nurturing and empowering our youth and all the Parish clergymen, for their dedication to the youths spiritual growth, as well as the PCC, for their commitment to the church’s mission and vision.

Reverend Otiji who is also the CHS Awka Parish Youth Coordinator warned on the rise in idol worship which according to him is leading so many youths to doom as there is no other God superior to the Almighty God.
Earlier, the Archdeacon, CHS Awka Archdeaconry and vicar Church of The Holy Spirit Awka, Ven.Dr Onyeka Egwuonwu appealed to youths to shun Satan and his works by being diligent in all they do by obeying God , keeping His commandments,.and trusting God for directions.
