I bring warm salutations to the ever-vibrant and enterprising youths of the southeast, wishing you all a prosperous second half of the year 2025

  1. UPDATE ON NYCN NATIONAL LEADERSHIP:

After exhaustive deliberations and evidence-backed presentations, bothering on gross incompetence, multiple cases of constitutional breaches, infractions and dereliction of duty,
resulting in administrative paralysis and erosion of public trust in the Council, led by Mr Sukubo,
the Council resolved to expel Mr. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo from the NYCN with immediate effect.

(full details of his infractions and Coucil resolution are gazetted in the NYCN NEC memo dated 13th June 2025.

  • In view of the foregoing,
  • In order to ensure a seamless transition,
  • In a bid to ensure continuity of adminstrative operations,
  • In response to the leadership vacuum created by the expulsion of Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo and some other NEC members,
  • Following due process in accordance with the constitution of NYCN, a new NEC was constituted with the mandate to rebuild the Council, restore its integrity, and reposition it for national relevance,
  • following the resolution of the emergency National Management Meeting of NYCN, held in the 13th of June, 2025, in Abuja,

Yours truly, Amb. Comrade. Nnonyelu Williams Onyebuchi emerged as the Vice President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, South East Zone.

In addition, Comrade Okoro Justin, emerged as the Assistant Secretary, NYCN, South East Zone.

  1. OUR AGENDA AND POLICY THRUST

My administration shall be all-inclusive, engaging, and progressive.

The underpinning philosophy of our administration shall be hinged on the following fulcrum

A) Youth Empowerment:
Education, Employment Entrepreneurship and Empowerment.

B) Youth Reorientation:
Mindset change, anti-social vices campaign, Capacity building.

C) Youth inclusion:
Political, and Socio-economic.

I remain committed to ensuring the Youths of the southeast have their pride of place, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Your collaborations and support is thus needed, as this is the dawn of a new era for both the Youths and the Council.

We shall focus on the creation of opportunities, harnessing the creative and entrepreneurial abilities of the profound and talented human resources of the abundant in our region, and creating pivots and leverages for our youths to advance.

Details of the Policy thrust of our administration shall be made public in due course, detailing sectoral initiatives and policy interventions.

  1. STATE LEADERSHIPS IN THE SOUTH EAST:

We understand and appreciate the leadership and socio-political peculiarities of each state and shall be fair and firm in our approach towards strengthening the Council.

A) ABIA AND EBONYI:

We shall immediately establish caretaker committees in each state that shall oversee elections in the nearest possible time, in line with the dictates of the NYCN Constitution.

B) STATES WITH FACTIONS:

We have identified all states that are plagued by factions. We wish to state empathetically that we shall not in any way condone factions. In all such states, we shall wade in to forge unity. I call on all stakeholders and Elders in such states to intervene and forge a common front as a house divided against itself can not stand.

C) STATES WITH EXISTING COURT CASES:

We call on all states with pending court cases and litigations to seek and adopt alternative dispute resolution protocols, such as out of court settlement.

We strongly believe that dialogue and peace building remain veritable tools for conflict resolution.

D) STATES WITH FACTIONS:

We have identified all states that are plagued by factions. We wish to state empathetically that we shall not in any way condone factions. In all such states, we shall wade in to forge unity. I call on all stakeholders and Elders in such states to intervene and forge a common front as a house divided against itself can not stand.

I assure all Youths of the South East that under my leadership, the NYCN will serve as a beacon of hope, bridging the gap between the government and the youth, amplifying government efforts and engaging youth proactively in nation-building.

We are poised to ensure that whatever is due to the Youths get to the Youths.

CALL FOR SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT AND NYCN STATE LEADERSHIPS:

I call on the FederalnGovernment, State Governments, all youth stakeholders, affiliate-member organizations, NYCN state chapters, zonal structures, civil society allies, government agencies cum parastatals, and international development partners to unite behind the new leadership of NYCN.

We are prepared to partner fully with all the State Governments and NYCN State leaderships of the region and all relevant affiliate institutions and bodies to ensure youth interventionistvprojects are initiated and concluded.

CALL FOR SYNERGY BETWEEN REGIONAL STATE GOVERNMENTS AND NYCN STATE LEADERSHIPS:

All state Leaderships are enjoined to partner with their various state Government’s to drive youth development initiatives.

State Governments are hereby called upon to continually engage the youth leadership in constructive stakeholders and town hall meetings while driving youth centric economic and political inclusion policies.

The State Council should always hold the government accountable constructively.

I assure all Youths of the South East that under my leadership, the NYCN will serve as a beacon of hope, bridging the gap between the government and the youth, amplifying government efforts and engaging youth proactively in nation-building.

We are poised to ensure that whatever is due to the Youths get to the Youths.

I urge all Youths to remain patient, Godfearing, hardworking, vigilant and upright.

The future is indeed bright for us all.

The time has come to move forward and reposition the Council as a credible, inclusive, and strategic voice for Nigerian youths.
