Australian Man Dies from Rare Bat-Borne Virus

An Australian man in his 50s has died after contracting Australian bat lyssavirus, a rare rabies-like infection, from a bat bite. Health officials say the virus, which has no cure, is extremely rare but fatal.
This marks the fourth recorded human death from the virus since it was first identified in 1996. Authorities urge the public to avoid handling bats and seek immediate treatment if bitten or scratched.
