Benue Crisis Monitored in Washington – UN, US Delegation

A UNHCR and US congressional delegation has expressed concern over recent attacks in Benue State, confirming the crisis is being closely followed in Washington, D.C.
Led by Jessie Ainslie, the team visited Makurdi and praised the state’s humanitarian efforts. Deputy Governor Sam Ode highlighted that the violence stems from herder-farmer clashes, not religion, and reaffirmed support for ranching and federal security efforts.
The delegation is assessing humanitarian needs and US aid impact, with further visits planned in Guma LGA.
