Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to release his passport for an overseas medical trip. Bello, facing an ₦80.2bn money laundering case by the EFCC, cited urgent health needs.

While his lawyer argued it aligns with bail terms, the EFCC opposed the request, calling it an abuse of court process. The court set July 21 to rule on the travel application and adjourned the trial to July 3 and 4.
