FG Suspends Two Correctional Officers Over Inmate Passport Scandal

The Federal Government has suspended two Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officers for attempting to procure an international passport for an inmate.
According to NCoS spokesperson Umar Abubakar, the misconduct was uncovered through automated systems and interagency collaboration within the Ministry of Interior. The incident, which occurred two weeks ago, was deemed a serious violation of established procedures.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), chaired by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, approved the suspensions.
Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, reaffirmed the Service’s zero tolerance for misconduct and its commitment to discipline, transparency, and inmate reform.
